Elopements are becoming my new favorite type of wedding to capture. This year has forced a lot of weddings to go micro or mini with fewer guests and mostly outdoors! I have always loved outdoor celebrations and when Theo and Julia decided on Glastonbury boathouse I couldn't have been more pleased. The weather was insanely perfect mid-70s (sometimes hot) and once we were down by the water a breeze came through. I met up with the couple at Connecticut River Valley Inn and it was the garden setting that was intimate for the first look and portraits. Theo greeted me since Julia kicked him out to get finishing touches on.
A quick scope of the property I noticed the gorgeous willow tree that provided some glow! We had more time than I am used to for portraits so it really was fun exploring the grounds. A wedding shower was finishing up and then there was going to be a wedding that evening as well. October really doesn't quit for New England weddings!
Once we got to the boathouse there was another couple leaving at the same time and they both exclaimed "Congratulations! You look great!" I told them 10/10 was the most inquired date and Theo didn't even realized they picked the day so perfectly! Some family members started gathering and there was plenty of time to set up the Zoom meeting for the distant guests. Everything was so relaxed we even got to reuse the arbor that was set up for the previous couple the colors were perfect for the day!
After exchanging vows there was time to take some family photos while waiting for the boat to arrive...yes the boat! All the guests boarded up on the Slipaway Boat Tours as a cap to the evening and a relaxed dinner together after that. There was even a bit of a rainbow during sunset which is lucky! Enjoy the newlywed life!
All smiles,
Mariel
