Backyard Tented Wedding
Middletown, Connecticut

It is very rare I don't meet my couples before their wedding day but such was the case with Avery and Nick. This California coupe found me through a Google search, because the groom's hometown is right here in town. We had our Zoom chat to get to know each other and it was a match made perfectly! Nick is in the Navy and has relocated many times but found Avery, a North Carolina girl and they settled in San Diego (somewhere I hope to visit).

Nick's childhood home was the perfect venue and many other family members have gotten married on the property so the day was even more special. The property had bistro lighting and a barn which gave me plenty of inspiration for portraits.

Since I didn't get to do an engagement session I stopped by their welcome party/rehearsal the night before. I was welcomed with hugs and overwhelming warmth of family and close friends (it must be the NC influence). Let's be honest fall came in something fierce and with leftover rain in the forecast from Hurricane Ian I was afraid this outdoor ceremony was going to be pretty wet! But by the afternoon it was dry and the outdoor ceremony was a success! Check out that dip after they strutted down the aisle!

What I loved about this day was how relaxed everyone was. The wedding party were so fun and Nick's friends really kept me laughing. The speech from Avery's mom was so heartfelt and I just felt the love between mother and daughter. Ever since having my girl I am a wreck when I see that special relationship during the wedding day. I also loved the confetti entrance to the reception and 10/10 recommend for future couples. The dance floor was packed all night too and I was definitely caught singing, smiling and dancing along

Avery and Nick will be honeymooning in Ireland which I am completely jealous of and will soon welcome a new addition to their family (will fly for a maternity session; girl you are glowing). Best wishes for your marriage!

All smiles,

Mariel
